Snowshoe Butler Gulch - Summary and gear list

Jan 03, 2007
» Our friend Dan is putting together some regular snowshoe events for Meet-In Denver and included this handy write-up for this weekend's trip to Butler Gulch: Snowshoe Butler Gulch - Summary and gear list. I like the fact that he lists the recommended gear. While it's not difficult to snowshoe the sport seems to be attracting people without much outdoors experience, so having a common-sense list to distribute to newcomers makes sense.

Inexpensive Snowshoes

Dec 31, 2006
» If you are looking for a source for beginner snowshoes (read "inexpensive") you should take a look at the LL Bean catalog. They do have a Family Snowshoe Guide that feature their range of shoes, all the way down to an $89 pair of "Winter Walker" shoes that would be a good start. Or for winter-gear specific shopping try this url: http://www.llbean.com/gear, they also have cross-country skiing and tubing covered.

» Clear Creek County here in Colorado has a page of their website devoted to Clear Creek County Backcountry. If you live in the Front Range of Colorado it's worth taking a look at, I learned of a couple new snowshoeing trails I had no idea were out there.
