Driving Directions to Vail Pass:
Take I-70 to Exit 190, at the summit of Vail Pass. The parking area is on the west side of the highway.

Drove by on Saturday, November 29. It was snowing hard on Vail Pass and the snowmobilers were gearing up at the area but the ground was still poking through. Conditions may be good for the next few days then slack off unless they get more snow.

This high-elevation area typically has snow before other areas. Be aware that there is a Forest Service fee of $6/person for day use. The area is multi-use, you will see snowmobilers as well as people on foot (snowshoes and cross-country skis). This area is very accessible and thus extremely popular on the weekends!
