Driving Directions to Brainard Lake:

Starting from Nederland, take Colorado Highway 72 north out of town. Just past Ward (approx 12 miles) the Brainard Lake turn-off is on the left. It should be well-marked. Drive in until the road is no longer plowed (there is parking, and a gate preventing cars from travelling further.)

Visited on Saturday, March 3. The weather was clear but very windy and COLD. Plenty of snow in the parking lot and along the Left Hand Reservoir Trail (actually a small county road that never gets plowed.) Tons of snow, worth the visit (get there early though, that parking lot was full by 10am!)

Easily one of the most popular snowshoe areas in Colorado, the week-ends can get very busy at Brainard Lake!
